Pena Foods is possibly best known as being the only truly LOCAL broadline foodservice distributor in south Florida. While others may lay claim to this, they are either not really LOCAL just headquartered in south Florida or do not offer a product assortment in the multiple thousands attributable to a ‘broadliner’. For nearly 40 years we have been growing with the local market as well as overseas throughout the Caribbean. With our expanding product assortment, increasing our purchasing power to offer more competitive prices and diversifying our customer base to cover mass feeding kitchens, government contracts, restaurants, fast food establishments, pizzerias, bakeries, healthcare establishments etc.
Pena Foods had humble beginnings!
It all started with a man and a small dream, Mr. Antonio Pena, born and raised in Cuba immigrated to Miami in the 1960’s determined to pave the road for a better life.
Mr. Pena’s first operation was setup in the family’s backyard in Hialeah and the first item he sold was cheese. His first delivery truck was the converted family car, and armed with dedication and commitment to grow a customer base, Antonio worked hard and rapidly gained recognition for his swift and personalized door-to-door delivery service.
His customer base grew and so did the requests for additional items, so in 1983 Mr. Pena moved his business into his first official warehouse, diversified his product line and conducted operations until 1987, when he outgrew the facility and found himself needing a larger space.
In 1991 Mr. Pena purchased half of the previous facility where Pena Foods operated. By then he had increased his product categories and had a tremendous customer response and support. In 1998 he was able to buy the adjacent warehouse next door and our company had stepped on the fast track to our operations today. By that time, Mr. Pena had obtained a reputation for the quality of our services and our company has worked hard to maintain it since then!
The spirit of growth and continuous improvement is always present in our company, and as a result in 2016 we moved to our current facility. A custom fabricated 50,000 square3 foot distribution center. we are currently expanding our facility to create an FDA approved production plant, an USDA approved meat cutting department, an automated processing system, and a state of the art equipment to fulfill any size and type or order our foodservice customers need.
